Paddy Over the Moon

Mullumbimby is a town in the Byron Shire of New South Wales, it promotes itself as “The Biggest Little Town in Australia”.

From where we live it’s about an hour drive so not too long ago, bright and early, we drove down for Sunday breakfast.

The place we chose is called the Flock Espresso & Eats and it centres around “the vibrancy, range and quality of Australian produce with an attitude towards food found in the rustic countryside towns of Europe.”

What all that means is that the food is local and delicious and the cafe is invitingly laid out with a vintage layout.

Below I’ve included a couple of photos of my breakfast choice, the housemade granola, and some shots from the cafes various seating areas.

After our bellies had been filled we wandered into Mullumbimby to browse their local homeware, produce and clothing stores.

Mullumbimby continue to embrace the laid-back, alternative lifestyle that has made the town known as the counter-culture capital of the Byron Shire.

There is a great place to explore, many locally owned stores with great, unique products that allow you to support small businesses in the area.

One store that I particularly enjoyed was Made in Mullum Artisan Collective, a wonderful store that brings together the work of 22 local artists, makers and creators from the area. Inside was everything from clothes to skincare to guitars and artwork.

A great collection of locally made products that was very interesting to walk around and look at. The store also has its own live in dog who was very cute and friendly!

All in all, it was a lovely morning spent wandering the local area, there’s so much to see and do in Mullumbimby and I would highly recommend the area to anyone who is passing through.
