The View From Up High

Springbrook.

On New Years day we drove up to Springbrook Mountain on the newly opened and recently repaired road and it was wonderful when we arrived to see so many others doing the same thing.

It was a sunny public holiday so we shared the area with other families looking for a nice day out and the sights from the top of the mountain did not disappoint. In total we visited three of the lookouts and took a couple of short walking tracks when presented with the opportunity. Each of the walks were less than 20 minutes for the round trip and both the journey and the views were great.

The Best of All Lookout allows you to see all the way to the Gold Coast and on our clear day we could see to the start of the ocean and back.

Purling Brook Falls had an amazing view and two lookouts within a 5 minute walk. You could also take the longer 2 hour walk to the bottom of the falls which would have an even better view, and the added benefit of a dip to cool down if you need.

For lunch there would normally be a variety of cafes to choose from, however being a public holiday there were only 2 places open so we choose the Springbrook Cafe and Bar. It had a vintage feel about it with plush leather chairs to sit around their tables and a bar inside for cold drinks.

At the end of the day it was a lovely trip and I’d like to go back when it’s not a public holiday to visit the local art gallery and a few other places that hadn’t been open during the first time.
